Novosibirsk is in central southern Russia, about 4711 miles from Seattle. (To give you some sense of how far that is, it's only about 2738 miles from Seattle to Miami, Florida! Another interesting fact is that Novosibirsk and Seattle are just about 180 degrees in latitude from each other, which means that they are on exact opposite sides of the globe.) It is approximately 1772 miles east of Moscow (That's how far Seattle is from the southern tip of Baja California). St. Petersburg is approximately 408 miles NW of Moscow. (That's just a bit furthur than Eugene, OR is from Seattle.)

Background information

Prior to their arrival in Siberia, the American Counselors spend a few days as tourists in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In order to help them gain a greater appreciation of Russian culture, the Counselors visit such sites as the Kremlin, St. Basil’s, the Hermitage, the Church on Spilled Blood, St. Isaac’s, the canals of St. Petersburg and the Summer Palace.
